Background
John Cackley gave a George Gipp sweater to the University of Notre Dame. In 1989 Notre Dame gave it to Ronald Reagan. John Cackley wrote an article for the South Bend Tribune protesting this action. He also wrote a letter of protest to Edward A. Malloy, CSC, president of the university, and received many letters, and copies of letters to Fr. Malloy, from other people who objected.
