Background
In 1993 Pope John Paul II flew to Denver for World Youth Day. On Thursday, 12 August, he addressed a crowd of 90,000 at Mile High Stadium. On Friday, 13 August, he contributed to the conclusion of the Stations of the Cross, though he did not attend in person. on Saturday and Sunday he spent hours interacting with young people at Cherry Creek State Park.
