Abstract

Undated composition books labeled, "Historical Notes," containing miscellaneous notes on various topics including Bishop Bruté, Catholic history, and Mexican-America; sermons given at St. Mary's Orphanage, 1880-1886, for different occasions (not in Schmitt's hand); sermons written in German (probably not in Schmitt's hand, dating ca. 1890); an 1890 pamphlet on the "Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation"; notes on George Washington, 1887; world maps taken from A Grammar-School Geography, Physical, Political, and Commercial by William Swinton (Chicago: Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor, and Co., 1883); and undated reference cards on miscellaneous subjects, especially Spanish-American history.
