Abbadie, S.J., J. Francis, Grand Coteau, Louisiana, to Archbishop Anthony Blanc, New Orleans, Louisiana, 1859 December 22
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Littell lives with her son-in-law, Dr. E. Millard, at Grand Coteau. Her infirmities prevent her attendance at church and she has asked Abbadie to say Mass at the home. Can he? And how many times? Also for people and others unable to travel, may he say Mass at another place even if it is only about 3 or 4 miles from the Church? Abbadie asks Blanc to ask Father Raymond to keep on at Prairie Laurent as he has done before. He presents questions on marriage difficulties, giving six problems, five of which concern slaves. :: VI-2-b A.L.S. French 2pp. 4to.
