Borgess, Caspar H. Bishop of Detroit, Detroit, Michigan, to Archbishop John Baptist Purcell, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1875 February 27
Scope and Contents
He thanks Purcell for his advice and has complied with it. Purcell's wish is law for him. He states some of the reports sent in 1870 by the pastors in order for Purcell to better understand the complaints. In May, 1873, the priests' salaries of $700 was established and the Easter and Christmas collection of $1000. The priests received their house, free of all expense. Borgess hoped this would be a proof of his anxiety for the priests, rather than a cause of complaints. Any statement can only be signed with any inaccuracies pointed out, which was done. :: II-5-f A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.
