Levavasseur, Father Frederic, Paris, France, to Archbishop John Baptist Purcell, of Cincinnati, Ohio, 1873 October 23
Scope and Contents
Levavasseur offers to Purcell's diocese a cleric in minor orders named Kemper who promises to be a good missionary but whom the physicians have advised to seek another climate for his health. His health is not bad but is better suited to a temperate climate. Kemper has a good voice and piety, would have been a subdeacon last year but was undecided as to the country in which he would serve. He comes from the diocese of Nancy. The costs of his trip would be advanced by the seminary, since they would be small. Since Kemper is ready to go, Levavasseur asks an immediate answer. He sends this letter by Father Ott. :: II-5-f L.S. French 3pp. 8vo.
