Cullen, Paul Cardinal, Dublin, Ireland, to Archbishop John Baptist Purcell of, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1866 November 10
Scope and Contents
He thanks Purcell for his good wishes on his promotion to the Roman purple. He would have wished that the dignity had been conferred on a prelate more worthy of it. He congratulates Purcell on the happy termination of the great synod. The Pope appears to be still in a very unsatisfactory state; he will probably be driven out of Rome by the Sardinians. A lady from Cincinnati, Mrs. Hoeckle, has written for information about her family whose name is Daly, but she does not give enough information to furnish a clue for investigation. The Fenians are still working underhand. :: II-5-c A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.
