He cannot believe that the Bishop James F. Wood of Philadelphia will receive him by his letter alone unless Purcell writes to him. He wishes to remain in the diocese only long enough to earn the means to go to Germany where he will enter a monastery in the diocese of W rzburg. He is staying with a German Catholic family.
