He hates to other Edwards. He quotes the attorney that wrote to him that he was instructed to settle along the lines suggested by Leftwich and that they could not see their way clear for taking further chances for unfulfilled promises. He is at a loss to understand the Secretary taking this stand. He asks for a full and itemized statement of the account. He regrets the Secretary does not show a more kindly disposition and regard for the family's connection with Notre Dame in the past.
