Edwards, James F., Notre Dame, Indiana to John W. Claypool, Indianapolis, Indiana, 1907 March 21
Scope and Contents
He begs Claypool not to draw him into this terrible mixup. Many at Notre Dame do not care to have the school mentioned in connection with their friend George Rhodius. He was connected with the preparatory school, but never entered college. The poor boy fell into bad hands after he left Notre Dame. His mother asked Edwards not to appear against George. Should George hear that he had testified that he was an imbecile George would conceive a violent hatred for Edwards. Time and time again George told him he would never marry that woman. Edwards discusses his advice to Rhodius. Edwards has signed the affidavit for Claypool alone. Should Rhodius appear in any court especially in the afternoon, he would be declared unfit to conduct affairs. Note: This ms. in Edwards' handwriting bears no date or name. :: XI-2-j A.L.(unsigned) 2pp.
