Dunn, Jacob P., Indianapolis, Indiana to Timothy E. Howard, South Bend, Indiana, 1906 August 09

 Item — Box: CEDW 13, Folder: 19
Identifier: CEDW XI-2-i

Scope and Contents

He is told that there is a retreat at Notre Dame with priests from all parts participating. It is possible that there is among them one who knows the Potawatomi language. There was a Catholic mission to the Potawatomi in Indiana which was served by Fathers Petit and Badin, located on Twin Lakes. John Gilmary Shea says the name of it is Chichipy Outippe; he used correspondence preserved at Notre Dame. He would like to make sure of the point. :: XI-2-i A.L.S. 4pp.
