He never spent four days more pleasantly and was never more royally treated than during his recent visit to Notre Dame. He was deeply impressed with all he saw. His mission to St. Louis was not successful. Archbishop John J. Glennon was cold and indifferent to the proposal of a Catholic Congress and Archbishop John Ireland was opposed to it.
