Harson, M.J., Providence Rhode Island to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1904 June 27

 Item — Box: CEDW 12, Folder: 08
Identifier: CEDW XI-2-g

Scope and Contents

He never spent four days more pleasantly and was never more royally treated than during his recent visit to Notre Dame. He was deeply impressed with all he saw. His mission to St. Louis was not successful. Archbishop John J. Glennon was cold and indifferent to the proposal of a Catholic Congress and Archbishop John Ireland was opposed to it. Cardinal James Gibbons is in favor of the idea but will not sanction it as so many of the bishops are opposed to it. :: XI-2-g A.L.S. 4pp.
