As his eyes have been bad he kept putting off answering Edwards' letter. He sees that Notre Dame University is sending her colors nearer and nearer the front every day by her athletes. John received a place as clerk in the big whiskey combine. Louis wants to graduate at the Frankfort High School next year and he has some work to make up, so he cannot attend the commencement.
