Scope and Contents

Captain Edwards Patrick Brownson carried this revolver during the Civil War. Originally an aide-de-camp to Gen. John C. Fremont, he joined the army of the Potomac and was serving on Gen. W.S. Hancock's staff when mortally wounded at Ream's Station, Aug. 24, 1864. He died in the 21st year of his life.
