Fairhurst, James London, England to James F. Edwards Notre Dame, Indiana, 1898 July 19
Scope and Contents
For the past four months no copy of the "Ave Maria" has gladdened their eyes. He asks Edwards to see about it. If Edwards knew how much the magazine was appreciated, he would forgive his urging the sending of it. Despite the heat he is keeping hard at work. They rejoice with the success of their kinsmen over the waves in their war with Spain. But one cannot altogether help having a little sympathy with fellow Catholics however misguided we think them. The war has brought the United States and England nearer than they have ever been.
