Scope and Contents
O'Neil, of Edwards' regiment writes regarding his pension. In the fall of '61 they left Frankfort to go to Eminence, Kentucky on flat cars and box cars. The rebels tried to raid the track and O'Neil was thrown into the ditch and hurt his back and breast. He asks if Edwards remembers meeting him and Colonel Tester? the day he was behind his regiment because of being crippled by the fall. He has asked Lieutenant Kirk for a furlough. Kirk said the only way was to take a French furlough and go home and when he got well to come back. He was never able to come back and is a cripple now. Their congressman says he must have stronger evidence. He asks Edwards to send him evidence if he can remember. :: XI-1-k A.L.S. 4pp.
