Edes, Ella B., Rome, Italy, to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1890 August 25

 Item — Box: CEDW 4, Folder: 20
Identifier: CEDW XI-1-h

Scope and Contents

The portraits of Cardinals Capalti, Franchi and Simeoni are pronounced excellent. She had the banker, Mr. Handley, attend to forwarding them to America. She is sorry to hear of the death of Madame Gregori. She is sending Father Daniel E. Hudson the "Mustere du Sang" over which there was so much talk relative to the letter of the Pole and in which Cardinal Manning took his part. She cannot understand all this sickly sentimentality over the wrongs of the Jews. P. S. Archbishop Corrigan had painted by M. De Rhoden, the original artist, a copy of St. Veronica. It is for the new parish church of St. Veronica in New York. She succeeded in getting it touched to the real "Volto Santo" of the Vatican. :: XI-1-h Typed 2pp. 8vo.
