He shipped the full size portrait of his brother, Archbishop William Henry Elder of Cincinnati which he promised. He asked that it be sent to his son, William Henry Elder, Vandalia, Illinois, when the oil copy had been taken. He suggests that it would be a good policy for the university to invite Charles Dudley Warner, who is here writing up Chicago for Harpers Magazine, to pay them a visit.
