Sorin, C.S.C. Father Edward, Notre Dame, Indiana, to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1886 December 24

 Item — Box: CEDW 2, Folder: 14
Identifier: CEDW XI-1-d

Scope and Contents

Edwards has probably read of Sorin's resolution to delay no longer the erection of the monument in front of the College to the memory of Bishop Simon Brute and Fathers Stephen Badin, Louis de Seille and Didier Petit . The monument is under the direction of Luigi Gregori . Bishop Brute graduated from the school of Medicine in Paris, first in the class of 1100 students. To Father Badin they owe the 524 acres on which they opened the first mission 1842. Sorin describes how de Seille gave Communion to himself before he died. Petit's career was short but remarkable. Sorin appoints Edwards to preside at the erection of the monument. :: XI-1-d Printed
