De la Fosse, Father A. N., Combourg, France, to, Paris, France, 1882 October 6

 Item — Box: CEDW 1, Folder: 25
Identifier: CEDW XI-1-b

Scope and Contents

He sends this letter in care of Mgr. Francois Maria Benjamin Richard archbishop of Paris. The first thing he must do in order to remove the body of Mgr. Celestine de la Hailandiere from France to the United States is to get authorization from the minister of the Interior. If he says that he was sent by Mgr. Francis Silas Chatard Bishop of Vincennes, Indiana to bring the body to America he might get the authorization without any trouble. He tells how Mgr. Augustin Verot, Bishop of St. Augustine, Florida and himself accomplished the removal of the body of Mgr. John Barry, Bishop of Savannah, Georgia to America. Yesterday Mme. Trudence whom he asked, answered that the Mayor and municipal council wished to keep the body at Combourg. Therefore he ought not come to Combourg without authorization from the minister of the Interior to remove the body. :: XI-1-b A.L.S. 4pp. 8vo. French
