O'Beirne, Ja(me)s R.: N(ew) Y(ork), (New York) to W(illiam) J. Onahan: Chicago, Ill(inois), 1893 August 28
Scope and Contents
Absence in Washington prevented an earlier reply. O'Beirne will speak on "Immigration" at the Columbian Catholic Congress, having long experience as an immigration official. The Colonization project of Onahan and Archbishop Ireland was a grand service. O'Beirne has just returned from a 20,000 acre tract in North Carolina at which colonies are to be planted. He asks for information about the colonies in Minnesota and Dakota, and for advice and information in regard to regulations of the Congress. P.S. He would rather be classified under the section of "Immigration" than "Colonization."
