Item
Identifier: CONA IX-1-e
Scope and Contents
Father Hill returns the newspaper article Onahan sent calling it a spirit of rebellion against papal authority. He has read the three papers for the (Columbian Catholic) Congress. Horan's doctrine needs to be qualified. Father Hill will try to visit Onahan again, and ask him to note the St. Louis "(Western) Watchman," which is on the warpath against those Jesuits of St. Louis who have taken part in the anti-(Archbishop Francis) Satolli and anti-(Archbishop John) Ireland fight, naming some priests. It also hits (Conde) Pallen hard.
