Scope and Contents

Miss Elder admits that she is a "Miss", and asks to be allowed to write a second paper, on "Pauperism". She asks about the colonization movement with which Onahan is connected and about Archbishop Ireland's attempt. Why did it fail? Since she shall not attend the Columbian Catholic Congress in person, she has asked Senator E.D. White, a grand orator, to read her papers. She is not certain of his cooperation. She asks Onahan to send him an invitation also.
