Hennessy talks of books solicited, the loss of the "Victoria", and a fire in London. He spoke to Cardinal (Vaughan) who did not enthuse much over the idea of a committee of one, saying that Monsignor Gadd would be the English representative. He mentions the economic situation produced by the silver question, the rededication of England to St. Peter and St. Mary, the Catholic Lord Mayor, and the royal wedding.
