Emery, Susan L., Dorchester, Massachusetts, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1887 August 17
Scope and Contents
Sometime ago Emery sent Hudson an article composed of the letters which passed on the occasion of Mr. Hugh Chapman's recognition of Father Joseph Damien De Veuster's life. Hudson returned the article with the statement that he had the letters on file. She inquires if Hudson has any objections to her publishing the correspondence. Her brother the Reverend Stanley Emery, an Episcopalian minister, on a recent trip to England attempted to visit Chapman, but because of the man's illness was unable to see him. Another Episcopalian minister, the Reverend Edward Parker, who knew Chapman at Oxford, says his actions concerning Damien were just like him. :: X-3-e A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
