DeVeuster, SS.CC., Father Joseph Damien, Kalawao, Molokai, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1886 November 23

 Item — Box: CHUD 9
Identifier: CHUD X-3-c

Scope and Contents

DeVeuster thanks Hudson for the 25 copies of the brochure. He wishes Charles Warren Stoddard success in writing his article "Corpus Christi at Kalawao". Brother Joseph, Ira Dutton takes good care of the altars and churches, work which DeVeuster must leave to him because he is afflicted with leprosy. Dutton also acts as druggist. Because of the Japanese treatment, DeVeuster's disease seems checked and his strength has returned. He gives specifications for the type of tabernacles he needs. Should the subscription for funds Hudson has started among Ave Maria readers yield more money than is needed for the two tabernacles, DeVeuster asks that the money be used to buy candlesticks for the nave of the church. :: X-3-c A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
