Hudson, C.S.C., Father Daniel E., Notre Dame, Indiana, to Eliza Allen Starr, Chicago, Illinois, 1886 February 13
Scope and Contents
Hudson cannot understand why his refusal of Mr. B. Durward 's article should excite Starr. It is the right of the editor to decline what he might consider unavailable to his columns. Hudson rejected her ballad because he felt it was too long to appear in the Ave Maria. He resents Starr's contesting his rights as to what should appear in the Ave Maria and he believes he was courteous in explaining his reasons for rejecting the poem. Charles Warren Stoddard and others, who know Hudson's method of dealing with writers tell him that he takes too much trouble and he begins to share their opinion. A short article, and editorial on the Tabernacle Society would be effective. :: X-3-b A.L.S. 1p. 4to.
