Munro, David, New York, New York, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 November 26
Scope and Contents
Munro presented Hudson's inquiry to the proper person at Harper Brothers and was told that it was impractical to furnish printed impressions of the three engravings to which Hudson referred. The cost of engraving the three cuts was over nine hundred dollars. Harper's compromised by offering Hudson the electros for use only in connection with the Ave Maria for three hundred dollars, on the condition that Hudson give Harper's credit. Munro is sorry to hear that Hudson is thinking of parting with Maurice Francis Egan 's "Preludes". He advises Egan to leave it with Hudson for the Ave Maria Press will expand into an influencial publishing house. Munro would be inclined to hold books like Egan's and Charles Warren Stoddard 's. He will send a few books to be reviewed in the Ave Maria. :: X-3-a A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
