Meline, Mary M., Cincinnati, Ohio, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 September 19
Scope and Contents
Meline was disappointed by Hudson's criticism and rejection of her article. For years she has been knocking at the door of the Catholic World and only partially succeeded, but now she has given up after the trash Monsignor Robert Seton writes was preferred to her stories. If Father Augustine Hewit were to take the helm her stories would have a chance. As for the Fireside it is a year since Meline washed her hands of it. As for Mr. Dunne the saying, a shoemaker should stick to his last is apropos. Meline inquires if the Baltimore Publishing Company sent Hudson her last story. She asks Hudson to return her manuscript. :: X-3-a A.L.S. 6pp. 16mo.
