Edes, Ella B., Rome, Italy, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1884 November 6

 Item — Box: CHUD 7
Identifier: CHUD X-2-n

Scope and Contents

Edes sends a second edition of the "Immaculate Conception". If it proves too long or too late for Hudson, Edes will try another periodical next year. She does not at all want to interfere with Daniel Paul . Edes hopes soon to send some short articles. She will not say on what, because she has been ousted from the field by telling beforehand what she intended to do. Paul once Played Edes the same trick. Edes has Hudson's 25 francs safe, but Duke Scipione Salviati has not yet returned to Rome. She will forward a receipt as soon as she can secure one. The Pope Leo XIII does not approve of the style of the mosaic medallion of the tomb and the committee will not yield so far. They are looking with curiosity and anxiety to the coming consistory. Edes hopes the Pope will not remove the present Secretary of Propaganda. The Pope moves around at will to make way for his dear Perugians. She sends journals with the Apostolic Letter on St. James of Compostella and the letter on sacred music. They can make head nor tail of the telegram relative to the result of the Presidential election. Edes hears Father P. Corrigan is about to issue a pamphlet "Bishops and Priests". It is untrue that his former pamphlets are approved, spread or read in Rome. Ulysses Mori translated number 1. :: X-2-n A.L. Signature cut 4pp. 12mo.
