Muir, Marion, Morrison, Colorado, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1883 August 14
Item — Box: CHUD 5
Identifier: CHUD X-2-l
Scope and Contents
Muir thanks Hudson for the book. With the exception of George Eliot, Muir thinks that all women are deficient in strength. Social life weakens every faculty. Muir saw Brother Stanislaus about two weeks ago. A friend from England sent her a twig from the grave of Wordsworth, but she doesn't like Wordsworth. She left home to find work because she wanted to see how people acted and to employ her thoughts. She likes to talk to Hudson, because silent brooding is called one of the mental diseases of isolated mountains. :: X-2-l A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
