Edes, Ella B., Rome, Italy, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1883 January 15
Scope and Contents
Edes thinks she has already written that the Patriot's circular was alright and she will see that the money sent reaches the right sources. She asked Marquis Sariera, editor of the Osservatore Romano who said the monument was to be at Bologna. At the request of the Bishop of Salford, Herbert Vaughan and the editor, Edes has accepted the Roman correspondence of the London Tablet, Dr. Brady having resigned. His letters are severely criticized. She does not know if she can succeed because the winter is different and she knows so little about the English and their movements. But the editor and Vaughan approve her three letters to date, in contract with the Abbe who assures her that no one reads her letters. Cardinal Wladimir Czacki does not improve, he has a disease of the spinal marrow and may not be able to receive the hat in the next Consistory. Edes would like the manuscript of the Presentation returned. :: X-2-k A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
