Edes, Ella B., Rome, Italy, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1882 May 29
Scope and Contents
Edes sends Hudson the new "Gerarchia". The chains are still on the table, she will give them to Father-General Edward Sorin, C.S.C. when he comes to Rome. She submits an article on the Visitation. Edes has been attempting to get Hudson a facsimile of the ring of Perugia. She has exhausted the stock brought her by Daniel Paul . There is no truth in the tale relative to Queen Margherita and the repeal of the Pope to allow Mass to be said in the Quirinal. Canon Anzino, royal chaplain-in-chief was granted permission to raise an altar and say Mass in the Quirinal Palace. Apropos that telegram to the Sun relative to the resident papal delegate for America is a canard. Mori, not Father R? O'Reilly, who is in Spain or was, with the "Sevigne of America", Mrs. Rhoda White, sends those stupid, silly telegrams, almost always erroneous. He has been dismissed from the Journal de Rome. :: X-2-i A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.
