Dorsey, Anna Hanson, Washington, D. C., to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 June 27
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Dorsey has mailed Hudson part of the last chapter of "Beth's Promise" and she will send the concluding pages this week. The story has gone beyond the length that was originally planned, but it was necessary or else it would have interfered with the construction and disappointed the readers of the Ave Maria. She is sure Hudson will be willing to pay whatever may be over what she has received. Our Blessed Lady has given her great help; with all the interruptions she has never written with less effort. She thanks Hudson for being so kind and encouraging and willing to help her whenever she asked for money. She comments on several mistakes in the last issue of the Ave Maria. She informs Hudson that someone is pruning copy and has left out the word "Kismet". She never puts anything in a story that is to be cut out. She never received the book of devotion that Hudson mentioned. Mrs. Angela Eastman has lost the use of her limbs, and if standing without assistance she shakes from head to foot, and would fall if she were not held. She would like to obtain some blessed mortar from Knock but nobody notices her requests and she asks Hudson for assistance. Her son-in-law has been ill since April with a heart disease but is slowly recovering, the answer to many prayers. He and her daughter have become devout practical Catholics. Hudson should pray for her. :: X-2-e A.L.S. 4pp. 8vo.
