Allen, Elizabeth W., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1879 June 22
Scope and Contents
She sends Hudson's certificate and tells him that their founder, Father Rowes, told her that all the people who enrolled could choose their own day for gaining the Plenary indulgence attached to the day of enrollment. Father Rowes said to write to all she can and say that he begs them to pray that our Lady may put it into the priests to erect Confraternities of the Servants of the Holy Ghost in their churches and that Father Ward will aggregate them to the Archconfraternity. The Pope has erected the Confraternity in London into an Archconfraternity, and she wants Hudson to print Father Rowes' message in the Ave Maria. She sends a $1.00 in Miss Julia Allen's name toward the rebuilding of Notre Dame. P.S. The Father Ward in the letter is Father John J. Ward of the Cathedral of Philadelphia. Any priest having the Bishop's permission may establish the Confraternity in his church and write to Father Ward to be aggregated to the Archconfraternity in London. :: X-2-e A.L.S. 4pp. crown 8 vo
