Meany, Mary L., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1876 December 15

 Item — Box: CHUD 1
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d

Scope and Contents

Strange as it may seem the death of a dear friend, Sister Cornelia Connelly, makes her rejoice for besides putting an end to the sister's many earthly trials she also feels that the Religious Order of which the sister was the real foundress will new succeed. She is uncertain whether it is permissible to print a short biography of the sister in the Ave Maria. She feels greatly indebted to the Blessed Virgin and to the priests at Notre Dame for the prompt way in which they obtained her favor from the Sacred Heart. Now that she constantly has the facilities of a library at her disposal she feels as if she could begin a new series of "Stars of Our Lady", instead of "Going Forward", which she believes to be too ill-natured. She suggests another series of articles following the pattern set by the enclosed story. Father Alexis Granger informed her that a certain expression in her story about Our Lady of the Sacred Heart was forbidden so the altered it and now offers it to the Ave Maria for publication again. :: X-2-d A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
