Howe, Rose B.F., Chesterton, Indiana, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1876 November 5

 Item — Box: CHUD 1
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d

Scope and Contents

She asks Hudson to send her a copy of a recent issue of the Ave Maria. The Howe's are grateful to Hudson for his prompt and courteous response to their inquiry regarding the remainder of Miss Wieker's bill at St. Mary's. Since her story about St. Dominic does not fulfill all the required specifications she will not be disappointed if Hudson does not accept it. She believes that Italian Catholics are worthy of much more respect than most people show toward them and at least as much as other Catholic nationalities of Europe deserve. According to her, Charles Dudley Warner's account of Jerusalem is an unadulterated lie. Because of her human frailty she fears that in expressing herself she sometime may slander a whole class of people thereby offending God. She asks Hudson to wait until he has the entire story before he gives it a title. :: X-2-d A.L.S. 6pp. 12mo.
