Brouillet, John I.B.A., V.G., Washington, D.C., to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1876 November 2

 Item — Box: CHUD 1
Identifier: CHUD X-2-d

Scope and Contents

He presents Hudson with the papers on the Indian question formulated by the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions. He asks Hudson to cooperate with him by informing our Catholic population of its duties in regard to our Catholic Indians. He feels that with the full support of the Catholic press, clergy, and laity, and with the effective aid of the Catholic Indian Missionary Associations which are being systematically established throughout the country the Indian problem can be solved. Mention should be made in the Ave Maria that the Holy Father has blessed this benevolent work. He encloses a pamphlet for publication with the instructions that its contents are applicable to all dioceses where the Indian Missionary Associations are approved. He requests that several copies of the Ave Maria containing this information be sent to the Bureau for filing. :: X-2-d A.L.S. 3pp. royal 8vo.
