Middleton has received some information and wishes to withdraw the statement made in a paper sent to Clarke that Father John Possidius O'Dwyer was preconized as the first Bishop of Savannah. This statement is not wholly warranted by the records in Rome. Despite the records of his order, Middleton sent to Rome for confirmation of O'Dwyer's appointment.
