Scope and Contents
At the request of Bishop Richard Gilmour, Houck sent by express some data on the life of Bishop Louis Amadeus Rappe for Clarke's Vol.III of the "Deceased Bishops". Houck has also written some of the priests to gather additional information from parishoners who knew Rappe when he was a missionary on the Maumee. Houck also suggests that Clarke write the following for information: Father Z. Druon, Vicar General, St. Albans, Vermont, who was a lifelong friend of Rappe and has much valuable information on him; Father John Monahan, Niles, Ohio, Bishop Joseph Dwenger, Father E. Hannin, Toledo, Ohio, Mother M. Austin, Ursuline Convent, Cleveland, Ohio, Father J.F. Callaghan, St. Martins, Ohio, and for Bishop Gilmour's sermon preached at Archbishop John Baptist Purcell 's funeral. Houck wants the manuscript notes returned to the Diocesan Archives when Clarke is finished with them. :: I-2-n A.L.S. 1p. 4to. 10
