Burr, William Henry, Washington, District of Columbia, to Richard Henry Clarke, New York, New York, 1883 July 12

 Item
Identifier: CRCL I-2-n

Scope and Contents

The original Bishop Benedict Joseph Fenwick letter is supposed to be at Loyola College, Baltimore. Father Charles Lancaster, librarian, Georgetown College, wishes to restore it if possible to his library, where it properly belongs. The information sought from Clarke was afterwards obtained in the enclosed pamphlet. In such an embarrassing case as this Burr supposes the Catholic Church will keep silent. But on the other hand will it dare again to bring false accusations against the great and good Thomas Paine :: I-2-n A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.
