Girardey, C.SS.R., Father Ferreol, Ilchester, Maryland, to James Alphonsus McMaster, New York, New York, 1871 March 15

 Item
Identifier: CMMA I-1-o

Scope and Contents

He sends the Fastoral letter for Lent received by Father A Konings from the Archbishop of Malines, since it contains some striking thoughts which would probably figure well in the Journal. Konings would like to talk to McMaster and longs for the opportunity to do so. Girardey is in poor health, but very busy. He would like to be removed to a more active scene. He feels bad about what happened lately in Thompson Street. Though he considers Father James Sheeran right in principle, he cannot justify his violent and vindictive manner of upholding it. He is sorry for all concerned, especially since the affair has acquired publicity. He sends his regards to Mrs. McMaster, the children, and to Mrs. Brown. He would like to have the Pastoral letter returned to Konings if convenient. :: I-1-o A.L.S. 2pp. 16to.
