Fidius, New York, New York, to James Alphonsus McMaster, New York, New York, 1869 December 3

Identifier: CMMA I-1-n

Scope and Contents

Fidius tells McMaster that a few days ago an insurance man of some prominence in New York made the assertion that members of the Catholic Church would not insure their lives because of a Papal edict issued within the past thirty years. Fidius denied this, but upon inquiring, found that Protestants quite generally held this belief. He feels that the time for a thorough "ventilation" is at hand, and that the Journal is the best medium for that. He thinks that this prejudicial impression ought to be removed as groundless, and supposes that Protestants take it as true on the blind faith that nothing is too bad to believe of "the Church". He hopes to see an "expose" in McMaster's paper. :: I-1-n A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
