Gaston, S G, Blithewood,, to Father James Roosevelt Bayley, New York, New York, 1853 March 27

 Item
Identifier: CBAY II-2-n

Scope and Contents

Bayley's last letter was a comfort to Gaston. She has been thinking of collecting together the three or four Catholic women inhabiting houses owned by her uncle, and reading the Mass prayers. She could do it very quietly so as to attract no notice, particularly her aunt should not know for she is nervous about incurring her husband's displeasure. Gaston is very unhappy to feel that she is looked upon with distrust and suspicion, and considered ungrateful. The prospect of her desire to enter religion seems further than ever from gratification as her aunt's objections have increased. More than this are the obstacles that seem to arise in her own heart. :: II-2-n A.L.S. 4pp. 16mo.
