The collections of the Association for the Propagation of the Faith for 1849 having closed today, they know the final figure. Their funds allow them to send to the diocese of Detroit out of the 1849 collections the total sum of 16,000 francs. On October 13, Gallien had sent Lefevere a draft for 3,000 francs. He encloses the balance of 12,800 francs. They have not yet received the report which the Councils wish to have every year about the condition of the mission, its resources and needs. In a postscript Gallien adds that he has received a request for information on the whereabouts of Bishop Frederick Rese and asks Lefevere to give it to him.
