Lefevere's letter of March 8 was received. Eldridge wrote yesterday giving the result of the vote of the Senate on Lefevere's bill which was taken yesterday. Quite strong opposition was made by certain senators, induced, he understands, by letters from Edward V. Cicotte . Believing the act just, Eldridge is satisfied with the part he has had in the matter and it would give him pleasure to aid Lefevere in any effort for the benefit of his church.
