Morton, Samuel, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Father John Timon, C.M. Tymons, Barrens, Missouri, 1834 December 12
Scope and Contents
Since the departure of Father John Brands, C.M. Brandts, 10 or 15 of their relations arrived from Maryland: one of Mrs. Morton's brothers, Mrs. Warthing's family and Mr. Miles' family. They are all acquaintances of Father Wiseman, C.M. and are anxious to see some one down here as they are at a loss for a church to go to. Morton asks for a loan of $200 to $225 for a short time as his trip to New Orleans was very unsuccessful. He has money coming to him from the 20th to the last of next month from his brother in New Orleans. It is impossible to raise it here. Mrs. Morton's health is something better than when Brandts was down. :: IV-3-i A.L.S. 2pp. folio
