Noethen sends for McFarland's inspection the first number of Father B.S. Bayerle's great work, "The Ecclesiastical Year" to which are added Catholic legends by Father Alban Stolz, both translated by Noethen from the German. The book has already been submitted to Bishop John McCloskey of Albany who considers it a most valuable addition to Catholic literature. He asks for McFarland's approbation in writing.
