Scope and Contents

Since he is in New Haven he spends 3 or 4 hours each day visiting German Catholic families. At the present time he has the names of 94 families and would not be astounded if the number would reach 150, half of them mixed marriages. He will send the Bishop their conditions but now he wishes the Bishop's advice. Of these families there are 100 or at least 50 between the ages 1 and 10 who are not baptized or baptized by a Protestant minister. When he visited them the mother promised to bring the children in for baptism but in nearly all cases they did not come. If he had baptized them in their parents house he would have baptized 30 but instead he has baptized only three of 1, 4, and 8 years of age. He asks whether he should visit the families again and baptize the children in the parents' houses. ` P.S. He asks that the answer he sent in care of Father E. O'Brien, St. Mary's Church. :: I-1-b A.L.S. 3pp. 8vo.
