General

Document. Provisional draft of Pax Christi USA's statement and proposed plan of action for Pax Christi in its advocacy of diarmament. A letter to "sister" is attached talking about who should be the Pax Christi representative for the NISBCO conference along with Gordon. ~ Gordon discusses the escalation of the arms race and makes some recommendations of programs of action and specific arguments that Pax Christi should advance. (1) Pax Christi should emphasize the evils of nuclear war and how it is incompatable with Christian teachings. (2) Pax Christi should cooperate with other peace organizations, but not at the expense of its credibility. (3) He recommends that Pax Christi make disarmament be the primary issue of the 1982 Assembly and that a primarily educational approach should be supplemented with an activist approach as well. (4) He says that Pax Christi chapters need to become more active on the regional and community levels.
